Tommy Peoples was born in St.Johnston. He learned to play the fiddle at an early age and during the 1960's he was part of the traditional Irish music revival and was a member of the The Green Linnet Ceili Band. Tommy made his first recording with Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann in 1970 and soon after formed a group called 1691 with Matt Molloy (Flute), Peter Brown (Pipes), Triona Ni Dhomhnaill (Harpsichord and Vocals) and Liam Weldon (Singer, Bodhran Player and song writer) who together recorded one album in 1972. In 1975 Tommy joined the Bothy Band which also included Matt Molloy, Donal Lunny (Bouzouki and Bodhran), Paddy Keenan (Pipes) and siblings Triona Ni Dhomhnaill and Micheal O Domhnaill (Guitar and Vocals). Tommy played on the Bothy Bands first recording *The Bothy Band* (1975) and also recorded an album with Matt Molloy and Paul Brady before leaving the Bothy Band in 1976. Tommy's new album *The Quiet Glen* is his first solo recording since *High Part of the Road* which he recorded accompanied by Paul Brady.
