St. Connell's Museum, Glenties / Músaem Naomh Conaill

St. Connell's Museum and Heritage Centre, Glenties is a treasure trove of local history.
The Heritage centre is named after St. Connell Caol who, in the 6th century, founded a monastic settlement on Inniskeel Island, north of Portnoo near Glenties. The Museum includes the prison cells of the late 19th century Courthouse and has many artefacts pertaining to the famine in South West Donegal. Tá cnuasach an-mhór de stáir áitiúil le feiceáil i músaem agus ionad oidhreachta Naomh Conaill ar na Gleanntaí. Ainmniú an t-ionad oidhreachta iniadh Naomh Conaill Caol a bhunaigh mainistir sa séú ar oiléan Inis Caoil, ar thuaisceart le Port Nua congarach ag na Gleanntaí. Ar chuid de na rudaí atá le feiceáil sa músaem tá cealla an phriosún a bhí sa teachcuirte naoú aois déag agus tá go leor lámhdhéantúsáin ag baint leis an ghórta a bhí in iar-dheisceart Thír Chonaill tamall fada ó shín.
